About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have for Graco SnugRide, July 1, 2005

This review is from: Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame (Baby Product)
I did a lot of research on infant car seat strollers and was a bit disillusioned by the two that were out there (the Kolcraft Universal and the Snap-N-Go). Reviews for both items showed concerns in using them with a Graco SnugRide (which was my carseat of choice). While some parents mentioned that they both worked great with their SnugRide car seat, there were just as many that had concerns that the strollers didn't fit that model of car seat well and worried of the two popping apart. Examining both of them up close, I could understand why there might be mixed reviews considering all the minor adjustments you have to tweak depending on which car seat you are using.
I guess this Graco stroller recently came out because I hadn't seen it before, but as soon as I did, I purchased it. I was amazed by how easy it was to put together. You really don't need the instruction manual to figure it out, and each of the parts fit together with a very satisfying snap that lets you know... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, September 6, 2005

This review is from: Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame (Baby Product)
We have the Laura Ashley travel system and while I love the stroller, it's heavy as all get out to lift in and out of the car. When you are just running into CVS or doing a quick errand with the baby in tow, it's really nice to just pop the car seat into the SnugRider frame and go. The SnugRider is light, it folds easily and it's perfect for a quick transport or even an all day shopping affair! (Please don't ever risk putting your car seat into a department or grocery store shopping cart!!!) I was able to put it together in about 8 minutes. At first the carseat got stuck on the frame and wouldn't release easily by simply pressing in the red release handle - I actually had to disengage the release clasp manually and the seat came out fine. I think this was because the padding on the bars that you rest the seat on was so thick when we first got it, it needed some breaking in and now we have no problem removing it with the normal release. What's also nice is that the handle bar is... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars ONLY for a ***SnugRide***, July 11, 2005
By
This review is from: Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame (Baby Product)
I just had my second baby in February... My other son is about 23 months old. I purchased a Graco SnugRide, to find that the only strollers like this one manufactured were the Snap-n-go (SNG) and the Universal Infant Holder (UIH).

I purchased the SNG, knowing that the Graco wouldnt fit properly. Well about 2 months ago I was walking with my son in the carrier (and in the SNG) and my other son was "holding onto the stroller". I am not sure how he did this, but my nearly 2 year old knocked the SNG out of place. I didnt even realize until we went off a curb and the carrier popped out! I was so angry, that a toddler could un-attach the carrier without even trying!

I went back the BRU to find that Graco came out with its own stroller frame, meant only for the Graco Infant Carriers. Luckily BRU accepted my return, and I was able to recieve the Graco model. I LOVE it. First of all you do have to assemble it, sort of like the SNG and UIH, but its much easier and... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Everything I needed!, March 10, 2010
By
Elise Franklin (Vancouver, WA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Contours Lite Stroller, Tangerine (Baby Product)
It has all that I was looking for in a basic lightweight stroller.

Pros:
Lightweight
Has a snack tray (not all lightweight strollers have a tray)
Reclines pretty far back
Big storage basket underneath
Maneuvers well
5 point harness
It was a bargain at 80 bucks!

Cons:
The canopy could be a little bigger, but I just like really big canopies
The snack tray is a high, so it can get in the line of vision of a small child. But, it can be disconnected if needed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking Stroller.....but, September 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Contours Lite Stroller, Tangerine (Baby Product)
I have been going back and forth over which lightweight stroller to order. I am buying for my 3 child and had several stroller over the years from every brand. This however was a first purchase from Kolcraft. I read the reviews over and over and finally ordered it.
Shipped fast and the stroller is nice looking from afar. I think it looks to be made a bit cheap though(up close). I guess for $[...] you get what you pay for. I have a few issues with this stroller, the first being is that it is too short. I am 5'7 and I felt like I am hunched over to push it. My son who is 19 months can reach the handlebar when standing behind it. I wanted to mention this because I didn't see any other reviews that talked about height. And second is the no parent tray...it not something I am used to. The cup holder it does come with is too small to hold just about anything.
And this may be just a fault with mine, but the canopy kinda sticks and doesn't open without being tugged on hard. It... Read more

This stroller is by far the best light stroller we have bought for our newborn. It is affortable, durable, and light enough for my petite wife to fold and unfold on her own. It is durable enough for my 45 pound daughter to sit in when she is tired. And it is the most affortable stroller out there. I recommend it to everyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stroller, but a very rough ride on brick sidewalks, July 16, 2009
By

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
There are a lot of things to love about this stroller. For me, the best thing is that it's one of the few strollers designed for tall people. The handle extends to a reasonable length for a 6'4" person. There is no through-axle, but instead an arch that gives plenty of space for your feet when walking. On other strollers I'd end up kicking the stroller when walking.

Another major point in favor of the Vista is that it allows for the baby to be rear-facing, even in the seat. This way you can talk to the little guy or girl while walking with them, and apparently research has shown this interaction to be important. I'm not sure it will ever make a difference in their development, in all honesty, but it's just really nice to be able to see and interact your kid while you're walking with them.

Unfortunately, there is one major design flaw in this stroller that causes me to knock off a couple stars: the front "suspension" is terribly designed. The spring is far too... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Stroller for Tall People, February 23, 2009
Well we went to 4 different stores and tried every stroller possible.

Our Top Three Picks for tall people:

(1) UppaBaby Vista
(2) Bugaboo Chameleon
(3) Peg Perego Skate

All 3 have handles long enough for a 6'6'' guy. But, the Uppababy handles actually were about an inch or so higher all the way across and it had a curved bar at the bottom so your feet wouldn't kick it as you pushed. The other two had straight bars on the bottom that were very easy to kick.

Of the three brands, Uppababy was the only one that had solid all terrain tires instead of air filled.

The Uppababy had a separate bassinet, whereas the other two you convert the bassinet into the toddler seat.

The Chameleon and the Uppababy were quite easy to fold down. I felt the Chameleon was a little lighter for lifting from ground to trunk. The Skate was not too hard to fold, but there were several buttons so it took more steps than... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing stroller - great improvements for 2009, October 28, 2008
I did a LOT of research before getting my stroller. I had decided to get the Cameleon, because I had tested the 2008 Vista and didn't like it as much as the Cameleon. I actually went into the store to purchase the Bugaboo but came out with the Vista! I saw the 2009 Vista and fell in love with it, after 90 minutes of trying them both, asking millions of questions and thinking it over and over... I decided to get this one, it was a very close call. It has a lot of the benefits of the Bugaboo, it handles just as well, but I chose it over the Bug for these reasons:

1. It's a much better value, you get a separate bassinet (I was going to purchase an extra Cameleon frame for $135 to be able to switch without swaping fabrics), and several accesories. You don't need snow tires (bugaboo's are $89) because the front tires are bigger and more rugged.
2. It's not so common, at least where I live eeeveryone has a Bugaboo. Other accesories aren't as expensive (i.e. the travel... Read more
